The Fairfield Police Department has officially welcomed a new officer to its ranks, according to a social media post from the department.
Officer Ian Longfield, 28, was sworn in during Monday evening’s Fairfield City Council meeting by Mayor Connie Boyer on August 24th. Longfield moved to Iowa from New Jersey approximately seven years ago, drawn by family ties in the area. Prior to joining the Fairfield Police Department, he worked as a correctional officer in Mount Pleasant and also served as a reserve peace officer. He will now begin the department’s Field Training Program, working alongside officers as he prepares to serve the Fairfield community.
