Join the Ottumwa Area Arts Council on Saturday, April for Battle of the Brushes 2026. Area artists will have 100 minutes to paint a canvas related to a theme revealed at the beginning of the event. When time is up the judges will review the works and declare a winner. All works created will then be live auctioned with half of the proceeds going to the Ottumwa Area Arts Council and half to each artist.

The event is a fun and exciting competition meant to raise funds for the arts council, while also connecting the public to the many talented artists in our community. Attendees can check out the artist’s work while they race against the clock. A dessert auction will also take place with funds raised going to the Ottumwa Area Arts Council.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the action starting at 7:00. Tickets are $5 in advance and can be purchased at Hotel Ottumwa. Tickets will be $10 at the door. Children 10 and under are free. Food and beverages available for purchase throughout the event.
