Due to safety concerns, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is delaying opening day of the Saylorville Lake Visitor Center. The facility, which was originally scheduled to open April 1, is now scheduled to reopen to the public for normal operating hours starting May 1.
During the closure, Saylorville Lake staff will conduct essential maintenance to include repairing and replacing portions of the deck surrounding the visitor center. The building and deck will not be accessible to the public during this time.
Upon completion of the project, the center will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Memorial Day. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the center hours extend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After Labor Day, the hours return to being 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until October 15.
