A southwest Iowa farmer is confident fungicide will pay off this year.
Mark Peterson of Stanton says disease pressure was high in corn.
“I am hoping that we will be fairly well blessed, and I think we will be. I did put fungicide on all of my corn, I don’t like to do that necessarily, but it seemed like this was the year to do it.”
He tells Brownfield he’s not as confident about soybeans.
“Corn I’m feeling really good about. Beans, I don’t know it seems like they’re drying a little faster than I’d like to see. We’ll wait and see on that. I think corn will be above average. Beans, like I say, I’m going to take a wait and see attitude on them.”
Peterson says tar spot and southern rust were widespread in his area.
