Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Mahaska County will host an Agricultural Pest Control Continuing Instruction Course (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

The course will begin at 9 a.m. at the Mahaska County Extension office, located at 212 North I Street in Oskaloosa. Participants should allow up to three hours to complete the program.

Registration costs $45 for those who register by November 11. The fee increases to $60 after that date. Preregistration may be required, and admission may not be guaranteed for walk-in participants.

The program, provided by the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program, will cover topics including personal protective equipment, safe pesticide handling, professionalism, pesticide storage and chemical security, pest management, and pesticides.

Continuing instruction credit will be available for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 1A, 1B and 1C. Certified Crop Adviser continuing education units also will be offered. Participants seeking CCA credit should bring their CCA number.

To register or learn more, contact Suzette Striegel at the Mahaska County Extension office at 641-673-5841.

Additional information and registration forms are available through the ISU Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program.

Organizers remind participants that attending a Continuing Instruction Course does not automatically renew pesticide applicator certification through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
