Keokuk County students pursuing higher education are encouraged to apply for the Frank and Lois Beatty Memorial Scholarship, with an application deadline of October 15th, 2026 for the 2026-27 academic year.

The scholarship is administered by MidWestOne Bank through the Sarah Beatty Trust. Sarah Beatty was a lifelong Keokuk County resident who graduated from Sigourney High School and the University of Iowa. She established the scholarship as a memorial to her parents, Frank and Lois Beatty, to support students from Keokuk County continuing their education at a community college or four-year institution. Beatty was a proud supporter of further education in her community throughout her life.

Scholarships are awarded annually and are expected to exceed $1,000 each year, with the exact amount varying from year to year. Awards are sent directly to the Office of Financial Aid at the recipient’s chosen institution. Prior recipients are eligible to apply again in subsequent years, and scholarships may be awarded to both full-time and part-time students.

To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of Keokuk County, a United States citizen, demonstrate scholastic achievement, and plan to attend a community college or college. Applicants do not need to be recent high school graduates — students returning to college after a break in education and non-traditional students are encouraged to apply.

Applications and supporting documents must be submitted by October 15th, 2026. Applicants may submit by email to scholarships@midwestone.com or by mail to The Frank and Lois Beatty Scholarship Committee, MidWestOne Bank, Attn: Private Wealth, P.O. Box 1700, Iowa City, Iowa 52244-1700. All applicants will be notified of their award status by December 15th, 2026.

Those with questions can contact Nick Edwards at scholarships@midwestone.com or 319-356-5927.
