A central Iowa man is accused of causing more than $40,000 worth of damage to a golf course in Appanoose County.
Isaac Hites of Ames, 21, has been charged with first-degree criminal mischief, a Class C felony.
On August 7th, a superintendent of the golf course at Honey Creek Resort told the Centerville Police Department that a man used a golf cart to tear up the golf course. When asked for proof, court records say the supervisor identified Hites as the driver of the golf cart due to Hites signing in for golf green fees. The supervisor also said he saw Hites damaging the golf course at the 18th hole. The damage was estimated to be $44,548.
A warrant for Hites’ arrest was issued on September 3rd and he was taken into custody on September 15th.
Hites was taken to the Appanoose County Jail and is currently free after posting bond.
Hites waived his preliminary hearing.
