Forest, Aquatic, and Right-of-Way Continuing Instruction Course Set for October 21

 Iowa State University Extension and Outreach -Mahaska County office will host a Forest, Aquatic, and Right-of-Way Continuing Instruction Course (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. The program provided by the ISU Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) is available at office locations across Iowa.

The local attendance site is the Mahaska County Extension office, 212 North I Street, Oskaloosa.  Preregistration may be required; walk-ins may not be guaranteed admission. This course starts at 9:00am. Program run times may vary based on topics presented, please allow for up to three hours to complete the program. The registration fee is $45 on or before October 14 and $60 after October 14. To register or to obtain additional information about the CIC, contact Suzette Striegel at the ISU Extension and Outreach -Mahaska County office at 641-673-5841.

The course will provide continuing instruction credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 2 (Forest Pest Control), 5 (Aquatic Pest Control), and 6 (Right-of-Way Pest Control). Topics to be covered will include personal protective equipment and safe handling; professionalism, storage of pesticides, including chemical security; and category-specific pests, pest management and pesticides.

Please note that attendance at a CIC does not automatically renew an applicator’s certification with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS).
