The Ames Police Department is investigating an early-morning train and pedestrian accident.
According to the Ames Police Department, officers were called to the Clark Avenue railroad crossing at approximately 5:11 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after a pedestrian was struck by a train.
The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with serious injuries.
Police have not released the victim’s name. Officials say the name will remain confidential pending identification and notification of family members.
The accident remains under investigation.
