Steven Thomas “Snooker” Snook, 70, of Bloomfield, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of August 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Following his wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Lake Baptist Camp 11733 Copperhead Rd, Bloomfield, IA 52537. Saturday August 15th 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family may be brought to the celebration of life or mailed to the family at 11055 Copper head road, Bloomfield, IA 52537. Steve was born on February 24, 1956, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Carl “Joe” Snook and Jo Ann (Jerred) Snook. On November 10, 1995, Steve married the love of his life, Joyce (Phillips) Snook, in a ceremony at their home. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, family, and the outdoors.
A true country boy with deep roots in “Copperhead County,” Steve felt most at peace in nature. Whether he was hiking through his timber, hunting morel mushrooms, searching for arrowheads, or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, he found joy in the simple things. He had a deep appreciation for the land and loved sharing those passions with family and friends.
Steve graduated from Cardinal High School in Eldon, Iowa, with the Class of 1975. He treasured the lifelong friendships he made there and was always the life of every class reunion and gathering. His infectious laugh, quick wit, and easygoing personality made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.
He built many lasting friendships during his longtime career with Crescent Electric.
An avid cyclist, Steve was a proud member of Team SIC (Southern Iowa Cyclists). He spent countless miles riding RAGBRAI and participating in many other cycling adventures alongside family and friends. The friendships and memories made on those rides were among his most treasured.
He enjoyed camping, kayaking, tending his garden, bee club, woodworking, and attending the activities and events of his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan and loved watching them grow. When he wasn’t outdoors or with family, Steve could almost always be found cheering on his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings.
Steve will be remembered for his generous heart, his willingness to help anyone, his unforgettable sense of humor, and his ability to make every gathering brighter simply by being there. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and countless cherished memories that will live on in all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Snook; his former wife and friend, Deena Arndt; his son, Joe Snook (Amanda); his stepson, Colin Johnson (Dawn); his stepdaughter, April Mondia (Davin); his stepson, Scott Johnson (Lynne); and his 13 beloved grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Martin Snook and wife Jeanne, Richard Snook and wife Kathy, Kathy Bloom and husband David, Jeff Snook and wife Mary, Tina Bishop and husband Philip, and Tim Snook and wife Melissa, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl “Joe” Snook and Jo Ann Snook, and grandson, Tyson Mondia.
