The son of Albert Robert and LaVerne Mae (Hewitt) Lorton, Snake was born on March 23, 1948, in Knoxville, Iowa, He graduated from Monroe High School in 1966. Snake was a Buckskinner and was a fixture at Rendezvous’ and Ren Fairs throughout the country. Many will remember his knife and tomahawk throwing demonstrations, he taught many people (young, old, rich and poor) that with a little confidence you could hit that block with force. He also loved spending time with family, friends and anyone that would listen to his stories. He found great joy in being socially inappropriate and his eyes would light up with a mischievous twinkle at every joke or gotcha moment. In his grey era he enjoyed playing Santa, going as far as California, and bringing joy to children of all ages. He never knew a stranger and was welcoming to anyone and everyone.

David was an only child who made sure his children were not. Those left to honor his memory include his children, DaNaye (Merlin) Van De Krol, Eric Lorton, Heidi Dye, Stephanie Drapeaux, David (Liz) Lorton, Melissa Garcia, Christopher Lorton, Sam (Hunter) Lorton, Aly (Nate) Marshall, Zach Lorton and Jaydine (Ed) Good; 27 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, many other that he claimed as his own including his constant furry companion, Bella. As well as many friends and loves along the way. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandparents, and many other family members.
