Skor spoke to Brownfield on Tuesday at the Iowa State Fair:

The CEO of Growth Energy says year-round E15 legislation currently has the most momentum its ever had.

Emily Skor says the issue has been debated for more than a decade.

“We have incredibly strong bipartisan support in the House and Senate,” she said. “We had our E15 compromise bill pass the House in a very strong bipartisan vote, I will say, in May. Now we’re looking at the Senate. Leader Thune has been very clear that this is a priority for him.”

She tells Brownfield she’s hopeful year-round E15 legislation will reach the finish line in 2026, either in the Senate farm bill or another package.

“We need a vehicle that’s going to move, that’s going to pass through Senate,” Skor said. “If we have that, I think we have a really good shot of making sure E15 is included.”

Skor says consumers need cheaper options at the pump on a permanent basis.

“The focus on gas prices continues to be very strong around the country,” she said. “I think they are ticking back up.”

US Senator Chuck Grassley recently told ag media that nationwide, year-round E15 would generate $14 billion in corn demand.
