A Fairfield man was arrested earlier this month after allegedly attacking a woman with a metal pipe.

Richard Heckethorn, 60, was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.

On August 4th, court records say Fairfield police were called to North 10th Street concerning a civil dispute. Upon arrival, authorities say the responding officer witnessed multiple people fighting.

The criminal complaint states Heckethorn was seen holding a metal pipe and the officer ordered him to drop it. Interviews were conducted and it was determined that Heckethorn was the primary aggressor. Additionally, a woman stated that Heckethorn allegedly hit her in the mouth and the officer noted the woman had blood on her teeth.

Heckethorn was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. He was later freed after posting a $2,000 bond.

Court records show Heckethorn entered a plea of not guilty in this case and has a pretrial conference scheduled for October 6th.

Heckethorn has been ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim.
