U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says there should be a clear path for additional economic aid for farmers.
The Iowa Republican tells Brownfield lawmakers want to address rising ag input costs resulting from the war with Iran.
“When we appropriate money to replenish war material that’s been shot up during the Iran war, there’s $12 billion in that same bill for farmers, and I think that’s going to go through without controversy.”
Grassley plans to meet with farmers during the August recess and says they want money from the marketplace, not from the U.S. Treasury.
“So maybe I’ll be able to tell them if we can get a farm bill, we can (get) E15 in it.”
The U.S. House has passed a budget resolution directing up to $12 billion in aid to farmers.
