Zoomer, a six-year-old boar from Atlantic, has been named the 2026 Iowa State Fair Big Boar contest champion after weighing in at an impressive 1,246 pounds.
Owned by Todd Schuler of Atlantic, Zoomer was the heaviest of five competitors entered in this year’s contest. Schuler said Zoomer has the frame and potential to continue putting on size.
Getting Zoomer onto the scale, however, took some patience. Several people attempted to guide the massive boar toward the weigh-in area, but Zoomer took his time and showed little interest in rushing. Schuler said that laid-back attitude is typical of Zoomer’s everyday temperament.
Zoomer is a Chester/Hampshire cross, and much of his diet consists of homegrown ingredients produced in Iowa.
This was Schuler’s second year competing in the Big Boar contest, an event he said he enjoys. Outside of the competition, Schuler typically raises show pigs and purebred livestock, many of which he brings to the Iowa State Fair.
Zoomer’s 1,246-pound weigh-in earned him the top spot and made him the biggest boar at this year’s competition.
