Several communities across southeast Iowa are receiving a helping hand through the latest round of Alliant Energy Community Grants.
Alliant Energy has awarded more than $700,000 in grants during its second funding cycle of the year, supporting projects focused on safety, education, recreation and community improvements.
In Johnson County, the City of North Liberty received two grants. Nearly $950 will help strengthen the fire department’s rescue capabilities, while another $1,500 will support the city’s summer reading program. The Iowa City Community School District also received $500 for its Exploring Physics and Force Through Movement program.
In Jefferson County, Fairfield was awarded $1,000 to help purchase Streamlight Survivor X flashlights for local firefighters.
The City of Letts will use a $1,000 grant at Indian Creek Park to install rubber mulch, helping improve the park’s play area.
Henry County Conservation also received $1,000 for Jared’s Park Playground. The project is working toward an all-inclusive playground designed to provide children of different mobility and sensory needs with a place to play.
Alliant Energy says its community grant program supports organizations working to improve the communities they serve. Funding is provided for projects involving public safety, education, environmental efforts, workforce development, hunger relief and housing.
