An Ottumwa woman is accused of repeatedly hitting a jailer after her arrest on Saturday.
Felicia Baxter, 32, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor, and assault on persons in certain occupations, an aggravated misdemeanor.
On July 18th at approximately 3:30 PM, court documents say Baxter knocked on a door at a residence on the 100 block of North Davis Street in Ottumwa. An occupant of the home told police she was sleeping at the time.
Authorities say Baxter became upset when no one answered and retrieved a shovel. Baxter is accused of breaking a window and of hitting the front door with the shovel. Baxter allegedly left several dents in the metal door and broke off the knob of the door as well.
Baxter was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. During her booking, police say Baxter became upset and tried to break some equipment in the jail. When a jailer tried to intervene, court records allege Baxter struck him multiple times in the groin.
Baxter remains housed in the Wapello County Jail on a $2,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 23rd.
