Keokuk County Man Charged After Allegedly Assaulting Two Family Members

A Keokuk County man is facing two domestic abuse charges after allegedly assaulting two family members at a residence Thursday afternoon.

Wyatt Hohenshell, 18, of Harper has been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault — Injury or Mental Illness, First Offense, a serious misdemeanor, and Domestic Abuse Assault — First Offense, a simple misdemeanor.

According to court documents, the incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on July 23rd. One victim sustained bruising on their right shin as well as a headache resulting from their head being struck against the wall of a stairway during the altercation. A second victim sustained redness on their neck from an alleged choking attempt, was struck in the head, and was shoved to the floor of the living room.

Hohenshell has since paid his $300 surety bond. A no-contact order has been requested in the case. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 3rd.
