A Fairfield man is facing a felony theft charge after allegedly entering a neighbor’s pole barn while the victim was on vacation and taking tools valued at approximately $1,590.
Franklin Eddleman, 42, has been charged with Theft in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony. The incident occurred between September 1st and September 7th, 2025, though the warrant was not served until July 12th, 2026.
According to court documents, an officer responded on April 20th, 2026, following a report of a possible theft. The victim told officers that Eddleman had entered his pole barn while he was on vacation and taken tools. The victim said he had attempted to settle the dispute directly with Eddleman and showed officers messages in which Eddleman admitted to taking the tools. Officers also interviewed Eddleman at his residence, where he again admitted to taking the tools.
Eddleman has since posted a $5,000 surety bond. His arraignment is scheduled for August 4th.
