The Fairfield Art Association has announced a new oil painting class called “Meeting the Masters,” taught by Fairfield-based artist Anastasia Weigert.
Originally from Moscow, Russia, Weigert studied at an Icon Painting School from 2020 to 2022 and worked at an Icon painting workshop during that time, experiences that have strongly influenced her technique and artistic approach.
The beginner to intermediate level class will be held on Fridays, July 24th and 31st from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the FAA Studio. The class will be limited in size and is intended to continue as a series. The focus of the course is on copying the techniques of a variety of Old Masters — an approach that Weigert says helps students improve their skills quickly.

Students should bring oil paints — water mixable is preferred for its easy cleanup and lack of odor, though not required — along with one flat brush and two to three round brushes, panels in either 8×8 or 9×12 inch sizes, palettes, rags, an apron, and pure odorless mineral spirits.
To sign up, visit the FAA Studio Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. or email suzan1252@aol.com. Questions for the instructor can be directed to Weigert at apickle1015@gmail.com.
