The farm bill package recently passed out of the U.S. House includes legislation that expands access to precision agriculture tools.
U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson tells Brownfield her PRECISE Act will help farmers reduce input costs and get more out of every acre.
“At the heart of what we’ve been talking about with input costs, and just the cost of being a farmer right now across the board, we’re doing everything we can to make sure we’re lowering those input costs and increasing yield. And then at the same time focusing on the markets on the other side.”
The Iowa Republican says the measure will utilize existing USDA conservation programs.
“We give those farmers access to the tools they need to use less fertilizer. Using programs that our farmers know and trust – EQIP and CSP – and then making sure we continue to work with the administration to lower those input costs across the board.”
Hinson says the bill will also fund precision agriculture projects through joint participation of conservation cost-share programs and the Conservation Loan Program.
