Residents in Ottumwa will once again have the chance to clean out unwanted household items during the annual Citywide Drop-Off Day later this month.
The City of Ottumwa and Bridge City Sanitation announced the 2026 Citywide Drop-Off Day will take place Saturday, May 30, from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Hydro Parking Lot.
The event allows residential solid waste customers living within Ottumwa city limits to dispose of bulk household items and other solid waste at no cost as part of spring cleaning efforts. Those bringing items to the site will be directed where to unload, while Bridge City Sanitation crews handle loading and transportation to the Ottumwa/Wapello County Landfill.
Officials say participants must provide a driver’s license showing a City of Ottumwa address.
Several items will not be accepted during the event, including construction debris, appliances, hazardous materials, tires, recyclables, yard waste, and commercial waste.
