On May 10 at approximately 10:06 p.m., the Oskaloosa Police Department was dispatched to the 1200 block of C Avenue East in response to a report of an assault involving a minor.
According to the criminal complaint, Alex Hunt, 37, of Oskaloosa, is alleged to have assaulted the victim. Court documents state that Hunt entered the victim’s apartment and initiated a physical altercation between the victim and another male.
Records indicate that Hunt pinned the victim against a door and struck him. He then allegedly threw the victim to the ground and continued punching him. As a result of the incident, the victim sustained a cut to the back of the head that bled.
Hunt was arrested at the scene and transported to the Mahaska County Jail, where he was later released. He waived his preliminary hearing.
Hunt is charged with assault (simple misdemeanor) and assault causing bodily injury or mental illness (serious misdemeanor).
