The South Iowa Cedar League Conference Tournament was held Monday, May 4th at Oskaloosa Golf, with Keota claiming the team title and Sigourney finishing second in an 11-team field on the par-72, 18-hole course.
Team Standings
Keota won the conference title with a 316, followed by Sigourney with 330, BGM with 331, North Mahaska with 353, Montezuma with 374, HLV with 381, Iowa Valley with 388, Belle Plaine with 400, English Valleys with 403, Lynnville-Sully with 406, and Colfax-Mingo with 435.
Keota
The Eagles seized the 2026 SICL team championship in dominant fashion, pulling away from the field by 14 strokes with all six golfers contributing to the total. Three Keota players landed in the top 10 individually — a collective effort that made the team title feel as much earned as inevitable.
Porter Cave was the individual standout, firing a 74 to tie for medalist honors among 66 competitors. When Cave and the co-leader headed to a playoff hole to settle the title, Cave came up just short, earning the runner-up medal in what was still one of the finest rounds of his career.
Brennan McGuire was nearly as impressive, carding a 75 for third place on a day that featured five birdies — three of them consecutive on holes 2, 10, and 12. Tucker Sprouse gave the Eagles a third player in the top 10, shooting an 81 for seventh with two birdies. Further down the card, Aspen Galindo shot an 86 for 12th with two birdies, Jacob Libe was 18th at 90, and Blake Baker closed out the lineup with a 95 for 30th that included one birdie.
Sigourney
Sigourney finished second as a team with a 330, but the individual performance of the day belonged to senior Solon Yates, who finally claimed the conference medalist title that had eluded him in previous seasons.
Yates carded a 74 that included an eagle to earn the 2026 SICL Conference Medalist honor — a fitting capstone to his senior campaign after coming close to the individual title in prior years. Jordan Tremmel backed him up with a strong 79 for sixth place overall, a round that featured two birdies. Landon Conrad was 14th at 87, Josh Wyatt 17th at 90, Hayden Bensmiller 22nd at 92, and Ike Molyneux rounded out the Sigourney contingent with a 94 for 27th that included one birdie.
