We hope to be performing our best in May and that’s exactly what we saw last night. Iris Lane had a big night, running big PRs in the open 100 and 200. Elyse Setterstrom had her best meet of the year, throwing a big shot put PR and season’s best in the discus. Allie Hammes had a nine-inch PR in the long jump. Kensley Fligg and Kate Brecount ran really well in the open 400 and Bailey Belzer had a five-second 1,500 PR,” he said.
Belzer also reflected on the senior class. “This senior class has meant so much to our program over the years. Isabel is a three-time state qualifier, Elyse a two-time state qualifier, Maddy, Iris, and Lauren have been mainstays in our sprints and sprint relays, and Bailey and Caroline are a major part of the distance crew. More importantly, they are all upstanding people. They are leaders for us in every way — setting the standard in the weight room, at practice, and at meets. It’s an exceptional class of seniors that will leave big shoes to fill next season.”
