A Milton resident contacted the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Monday evening after discovering damage to surveillance equipment at their home.
Deputies were called to the 200 block of North Iowa Street around 7:00 p.m. on May 18th to investigate the reported vandalism. Authorities said two security cameras located on the property had been damaged or destroyed.
After reviewing the incident, investigators identified 18-year-old Kade D. Wintermote of Bloomfield as the suspect in the case.
Wintermote was later issued a summons on charges of 5th Degree Criminal Mischief and Trespassing. Both offenses are simple misdemeanors under Iowa law.
The investigation remains on file with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
