Families in the Ottumwa area will have a chance to meet some unique feathered visitors this weekend as Scooterbutts Aviary & Rescue makes a special appearance at the local market on Saturday.
The free event will feature dancing, singing and talking birds from 10 a.m. to noon at the market located at 1524 N. Court Street in Ottumwa. Organizers say many of the birds have been rescued and are now living in safe, caring homes where they can thrive.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the birds, interact with them and hear the stories behind the rescue efforts.
Market vendors will also be open throughout the day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving guests a chance to shop locally while enjoying the family-friendly event.
