The Rotary Clubs of Mount Pleasant have announced that tickets are now on sale for the 71st Annual Rotary BBQ, a long-running community event that supports local service projects and brings residents together each summer.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Wright Family Pavilion in McMillan Park, located on the Midwest Old Threshers grounds. The annual BBQ continues a tradition that has been a staple in the Mount Pleasant community for more than seven decades.
Guests will be able to choose between a pork chop or turkey tenderloin meal, which includes a baked potato, coleslaw, a dinner roll, and a cookie. Adult meals are $15, and children’s meals are $7.
Both dine-in and drive-thru service will be offered. Drive-thru participants should enter via Walnut Street, while dine-in and walk-up guests will be served on the north side of the pavilion.
Advance tickets are available at several locations, including:
- 5 Star Community Credit Union
- Pilot Grove Savings Bank (downtown branch)
- Mount Pleasant City Hall
- Any Mount Pleasant Rotarian
Funds raised from the BBQ are used to support Rotary’s community and global service efforts, including scholarships for local students and donations to area organizations. Past projects have included literacy initiatives with the Mount Pleasant Public Library and Henry County Conservation, development of a storybook walk at Oakland Mills Nature Center, regular blood drives at local schools, contributions to Rotary’s Polio Plus campaign to help eradicate polio worldwide, and environmental efforts such as highway cleanups and roadside maintenance.
The Rotary Clubs encourage community members to attend and continue supporting this long-standing tradition.
