Scotty Harold Hopkins, age 50, of Lockridge, IA, formerly of Albia, IA, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield, IA.
Scotty was born on January 31, 1976, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City to Dixie Hopkins. He grew up in Albia where he attended school. Scotty worked as a laborer for The Nelson Company in Fairfield and also spent time scrapping metal.
Scotty enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing. He enjoyed catching all types of fish, but especially for catfishing, often taking trips to Minnesota to do so. He also enjoyed metal detecting and had a natural talent for fixing things—able to work on everything from cars to furnaces. Scotty liked visiting the casino as well as grilling year-round. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
Scotty is survived by his son, Caleb James Hopkins; his mother and stepfather, Dixie (Jim) Jerasa; a granddaughter, Jade; 2 nephews, Dalton and Zach Price; and a half-brother, Audie Bridegman. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.
Scotty is preceded in death by a sister, Janiece; his grandparents, Harold and Elaine Hopkins; and an uncle, Robert Hopkins.
Per Scotty’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
