It is with a heavy heart that we announce the departure of a beloved angel, Maverick Dwayne Edwards, who graced the world with his presence on March 15, 2026 in Des Moines, IA. Though his time with us was brief, his spirit was potent, encapsulating a joy and wonder that touched all who knew him.

Maverick was a beacon of joy, radiating warmth and happiness that could light up even the darkest of days. He was just starting to aboo, which brought his family pure delight. He was a lover of life’s simplest pleasures. His eyes would sparkle with wonder as he watched his father, Carter Edwards, gaming on the television, captivated by the colors, sounds, and movements. Maverick’s days were filled with joy and laughter, especially when he visited his aunt’s pool, his smile as bright as the sun.

Despite his tender age, Maverick made an everlasting impact. His life, though short, was a testament to the profound impact one soul can have on the world. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “To the world you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world.”

He is survived by parents, Carter Edwards and Teia Luckett; paternal grandmother, Mari Edwards; maternal grandparents, Neil and Lindsey Lobberecht, Shane Luckett; paternal great grandparents, Barbara Holler and Kathy Edwards; maternal great grandparents, Trena Lobberecht and Kara Sager, Bill and Stacie Luckett, and many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, James Holler and Craig Edwards; maternal great grandparents, Rhonda Luckett, Maverick West, Fred Lobberecht.

A celebration of life visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 5-7 p.m., at the Eddyville Celebrate Life Center. Memorials may be directed to the family.

We invite all who were touched by Maverick’s joyous spirit to share their memories and photographs on his memorial page. These precious mementos will serve as a lasting tribute to a life that, although brief, was filled with love and laughter. Maverick was the embodiment of pure love, and his light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he left behind. It is in sharing these memories that we keep his spirit alive, cherishing the moments we were privileged to share with our sweet, smiling Maverick.
