James Ross Elkins Jr., 44, of Bloomfield died at 1:26 p.m. August 1, 2026 at Davis County Hospitals and Clinics.
He was born October 21, 1981 in Ottumwa to James Ross and Claudia P. Elkins. He married Candis Forsythe and they later divorced.
James earned an associate’s degree in automotive mechanics. He had worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 15 years.
James enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his children, Jace (Destiny) Russell Forsythe of Lancaster, MO and Harley Ross Elkins of Bloomfield; a grandchild. Hueston Forsythe; a sister, Crystal A. (Anselmo) Hernandez of Angier, NC; father, James Elkins of Newton, IA; mother, Claudia Hernandez of Sanford, NC; nieces, Makayla Hernandez Elkins and Shayla Alexis Elkins; and nephew, Daniel Hernandez Elkins.
Visitation with his family present to greet friends will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 8th at Reece Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the family.
