Robert Arthur Krueger, 82, of Ottumwa, died at 8:43 a.m. February 23, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born May 2, 1943 in Oskaloosa to Arnold Richard and Velma Briggs Krueger. He went home to a farm house filled with love near Rose Hill, IA that included his grandparents, Arthur Amos and Captola “Cappie” Briggs.
In March 1946, the family moved to his most recent residence, the farm where he spent most of his life.
Robert started school at Nasby School, a one room country school near his house. Then he proceeded to attend Hedrick and Agency schools to finish his elementary schooling. High school found him attending school at Farson where he graduated from Pekin School district, Farson Attendance Center, the last year Farson had school in 1961. He was one of those children caught up attending different schools without moving from his residence.
Robert married Judith Lorene Newquist on August 29, 1969. They were blessed with one daughter, Marie Elizabeth on October 2, 1973.
Robert had served 6 years in the Iowa Army National Guard. He spent most of his life farming, raising crops, cattle and hogs. In addition, he worked several jobs during his life including farm hand, IH mechanic, Excel/JBS, and semi-truck driver in road construction.
Surviving is his wife, Judith; their daughter, Marie (Troy) Snyder of Knoxville; a grandson, Brett Snyder; brother, Kenneth (Lynda) Krueger of Ollie; brother-in-law, Russell (Judy) Newquist of Agency; nieces, Kathy (Andrew) Guy, Nichole Newquist, Jennifer (Eric) Moorhead; nephews, Rick (Kris) Krueger and Matthew (Molly) Newquist; many cousins, other family members and those considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and a niece, Deb Krueger.
Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26th, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 27th, at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Marilyn Gregory officiating.
Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery near Eldon.
