Gayle Lynn Youngs (formerly known as Gregory Arthur Youngs) passed away November 4, 2025 in Fairfield Iowa at the age of 79.
Gayle was born in Trenton, New Jersey and grew up in Pennington NJ. She attended The Pennington School and Hopewell Valley Central High School where she graduated in 1965. After high school she attended Ithaca College and Princeton Automation Institute. In 1968 she was drafted into the United States Army and served one year in Vietnam from November 1968 to Nov. 1969 with the 4th Infantry Division. After her discharge from the Army Gayle settled in Colorado. After attending Southern Colorado State College, she worked for the City of Denver as a computer technologist and lived in Denver and Boulder. Gayle developed an interest in Transcendental Meditation. She studied the teachings of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and traveled to India.
In her late forties Gayle moved to Fairfield, Iowa in order to be close to the Maharishi International University. Gayle made Fairfield her new home. In 2015 Gayle changed her name from Gregory Arthur to Gayle Lynn.
Gayle was known in Pennington as a gifted swimmer. Swimming competitively under her birth name of Gregory Youngs, she and her teams set many records in the Hopewell-Princeton area. She swam for the Pennington School, Penn Brook Swim Club, and the Flying Fish of the Princeton Y.
Gayle loved animals and frequently shared pictures of her beloved cats and the many rabbits and deer and other creatures in her backyard.
Gayle was predeceased by her parents Gordon L. and Elide “Bebe” Donini Youngs and her niece Allyson Gale Strand. She is survived by her brother Gordon L. Youngs, Jr. and wife Dr. Dorothy Jeanne Youngs of Flemington, New Jersey and her sister Patricia Y. Myers and husband Robert B. Myers, Jr. of Ringoes, NJ.
The family will have a private service for Gayle in Pennington in the late spring of 2026.
