The Fairfield boys and girls bowling teams competed in a three-way match against Davis County and Washington on Monday, December 8th, at Champion Bowl in Ottumwa. The boys finished third while the girls took second in a dual against Davis County.
Girls Results: Davis County 2,627, Fairfield 1,795
The Trojan girls fell to Davis County in the dual match. Washington did not field a girls team.
Emma Cass led Fairfield with a 290 series (113, 177), bowling above her 153 average in her second game. Autumn Rose-McBride added a 274 series (153, 121), exceeding her 127 average in her opening game. Emma Forrest totaled 231 (110, 121) with a 132 average. Brooklyn Gridley finished with 219 (74, 145), well above her 102 average in her second game. Braezyn Stutzman totaled 167 (92, 75) with a 96 average, and Savannah Garretson also finished with 167 (63, 104), bowling above her 78 average in her second game.
After dropping the low series of 167, Fairfield’s Round 1 team total was 1,181. The Trojans rolled 89, 137, 123, 129, and 136 in their Baker games for a Round 2 total of 614, giving them a match total of 1,795.
Davis County posted a Round 1 team total of 1,693 after dropping a low series of 317. The Mustangs rolled 175, 199, 172, 160, and 228 in Baker games for a Round 2 total of 934, finishing with a match total of 2,627.

The Trojan boys finished third in the three-way match.
Henry Swan was the standout performer for Fairfield, rolling a massive 446 series with games of 232 and 214, both well above his 157 average. He had six straight strikes in the first game. Dayson Workman added a 343 series (183, 160), with his opening game exceeding his 169 average. Blake Ballew totaled 329 (169, 160), bowling above his 166 average in his first game. Eli Aplara finished with 327 (167, 160), exceeding his 157 average in his opening game. Corbin Starr contributed 302 (156, 146), bowling above his 142 average in both games. Aaron Carlson rounded out the scoring with 284 (137, 147), exceeding his 117 average in both games.
After dropping the low series of 284, Fairfield’s Round 1 team total was 1,747. The Trojans rolled 141, 174, 202, 120, and 214 in their Baker games for a Round 2 total of 851, giving them a match total of 2,598.
Davis County led the boys competition with a Round 1 team total of 1,869 and a Round 2 Baker total of 896 for a match total of 2,765. Washington finished second with a Round 1 team total of 1,784 and a Round 2 Baker total of 949 for a match total of 2,733.
Coach’s Perspective
Fairfield head coach Melinda Chatfield was proud of her team’s resilience and improvement.
“I am so proud of their ability to push through even when it’s not going their way. The boys all had games over their averages today, and so did several of the girls,” Chatfield said. “Henry Swan was the standout player for us today! It’s so fun to see them all improving and hitting personal goals and records.”
Both Fairfield teams will look to continue their progress as the season continues.
