The Fairfield boys wrestling team finished seventh out of 10 teams at the Bob Murphy Varsity Tournament hosted by West Delaware on Saturday, December 6th. Indianola claimed the team title with 298 points, while the Trojans totaled 79 points.

Indianola led the field with 298 points, followed by West Delaware (216.5), Anamosa (155), Benton (145.5), Muscatine (117), Iowa-Grant/Highland (115.5), Fairfield (79), North Tama (73), Red Oak (59.5), and Maquoketa Valley (42.5).
Fairfield Results
The Trojans earned one runner-up finish, one fourth-place finish, and one sixth-place finish in the competitive tournament.
Dain Burkhart (175) earned second place after receiving a first-round bye. He won 3-0 in his second match before recording a memorable 4-1 victory in his third bout—his 100th career win. Burkhart fell in the championship match but delivered a milestone performance for the Trojans.
Jasper Carpenter (132) took fourth place after receiving a bye. He won 7-4 in his second match, lost his third, rebounded with a win in his fourth match, and fell in the third-place bout.
Calvin McClain (190) also finished fourth after receiving a first-round bye. He lost his second match, received another bye, and was forced to settle for fourth place after a medical forfeit in the third-place match.
Noah Patel (106) went 3-1 on the day after receiving a first-round bye. He won 12-9 in his second match, dropped his third bout, won 13-1 in his fourth match, and capped his day with a pin after trailing 3-2.
Sebastian Ftwi (Heavyweight) finished sixth after receiving a bye. He won his second match before losing three consecutive bouts to place sixth.
Alex Hudson (215) received a first-round bye before losing his next two matches to finish just outside the medal rounds.
Dusty Haynes (165) competed in two matches after receiving two byes, dropping both bouts.
Kohda Higdon (126) received a bye before losing two straight matches.
The Trojans will look to build on Burkhart’s milestone victory and continue developing their young roster as the season progresses.
