On November 9 at approximately 8:07 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the mother of a three-year-old child regarding suspected injuries.
According to court documents, the mother reported that she had picked up her child from the father, Tegon Fogle of Packwood, between 12:00 and 12:30 p.m. that day at Fogle’s residence in Jefferson County. She stated the child had been dressed appropriately for cold weather at the time of pickup.
Later that evening, while preparing to bathe the child, the mother noticed multiple bruises. She notified the Richland Child Care Center, where staff confirmed that the child had last been seen on November 6 and had no bruising at that time.
A medical examination was conducted on November 12 at St. Luke’s Child Protection Center in Hiawatha. The report documented 11 areas of bruising, several of which contained multiple marks. Medical staff noted that many of the injuries were located in areas not typical of accidental bruising. Court documents also indicate that several bruises displayed a patterned appearance consistent with two parallel lines.
Investigators determined the injuries occurred sometime between November 6 and the child’s pickup from Fogle’s residence on November 9. When questioned, Fogle reportedly admitted having custody and control of the child during that period.
Based on the investigation, a warrant was requested for Fogle’s arrest on charges of Child Endangerment – Bodily Injury, a Class D felony, and Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness, a serious misdemeanor. Fogle was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He was later released on a $6,000 cash/surety bond.
A no-contact order has been issued prohibiting Fogle from any contact with the child. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 10.
