Communities across the nation are being encouraged to show their support for military veterans through Operation Green Light, an annual initiative that honors those who have served our country.
From November 4 through November 11, residents are encouraged to change one porch light or outdoor light to green as a visible sign of appreciation for veterans.
The green lights serve as a reminder that veterans are seen, appreciated and supported by their communities. The initiative also helps raise awareness of the challenges veterans may face as they transition back to civilian life.
Participation is simple. Residents can replace a regular outdoor light bulb with a green bulb or use green lighting to illuminate their homes and businesses during the week leading up to Veterans Day.
Operation Green Light invites communities to join together in recognizing the sacrifices made by veterans and their families.
Residents can share their participation on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.
A green light is a simple gesture, but it sends a powerful message of gratitude to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
