The Jefferson County Farm Bureau is once again investing in the future of local students, announcing that applications are now open for the 2026 scholarship program. The annual initiative provides financial support to graduating seniors as they pursue higher education—both in agriculture and in other fields of study.
This year, local applicants will be considered for scholarship awards of up to $3,000 through the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Scholarship. One outstanding student will also be forwarded for consideration of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s $2,500 state scholarship, which is renewable for four years, offering a total potential award of $10,000.
In addition, two students pursuing agriculture-related degrees at a two- or four-year college will be eligible for the Beverly Rubey Scholarship, a one-time $1,000 award supporting those with a passion for farming and agricultural careers.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be graduating high school seniors
- Be current Iowa Farm Bureau members or the children of members in good standing (membership is $45 annually and may be activated prior to applying)
- Hold at least a 2.5 GPA
- Be involved in extracurricular activities
- Be accepted into an accredited higher education institution, including community colleges and technical programs
Applicants must also submit a typewritten essay detailing how the scholarship would support their goals and contribute to the Iowa Farm Bureau mission of strengthening agriculture, farm families, and rural communities.
