Fairfield High School’s Leia Hampton has announced her commitment to continue her dance career at Iowa Central Community College, joining the Tritons dance team for the upcoming season.
Hampton’s decision to join Iowa Central marks the continuation of a dance journey that has been defined by years of studio training, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the art form.
Iowa Central Dance Team Head Coach Cassidy Vermeer expressed enthusiasm about adding Hampton to the program, highlighting both her technical abilities and personal qualities that stood out during recruitment.
“While recruiting Leia, she stood out to us coaches by her outgoing personality and her mature and respectful demeanor when communicating as well as observing her take class,” Vermeer said.
Vermeer emphasized that Hampton brings more than just dance skills to the program.
“Leia brings many years of studio training to our team as well as bringing her sweet, loving personality that we know will only add positive things to our team culture,” the coach said.
Looking ahead to Hampton’s first year with the Tritons, Vermeer outlined how the Fairfield graduate will make an impact both on and off the dance floor.
“In her first year, Leia will contribute to our team by representing us always in a positive light as a person, dancer and student,” Vermeer said.
The coach identified specific qualities that made Hampton an ideal fit for the collegiate level.
“We think Leia’s work ethic, dedication and passion are what makes her such a good fit for our team,” Vermeer explained.
Vermeer concluded with optimism about Hampton’s potential at Iowa Central, expressing confidence in her future success.
“We are very excited about Leia’s future on our team and know she is going to thrive and excel in anything that she does here,” Vermeer said. “We are excited to walk right along side of her in helping her reach her goals and aspirations as a student and dancer here at Iowa Central!”
Iowa Central Community College, located in Fort Dodge, competes in the NJCAA and fields competitive teams across multiple sports and activities, including its dance program.
