A Fairfield man faces multiple charges following an alleged domestic incident early Thursday morning.
According to criminal records, Fairfield police were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. on November 6th to a residence after receiving a report of a man assaulting his child and the child’s mother. Upon arrival, officers identified the individual as 50-year-old Elton Freemen Foster, of Fairfield, and asked him to step outside the home.
Police then spoke with the reporting party and a minor who were inside the residence. They told officers that Foster had been drinking that evening while they were upstairs preparing to sleep. According to their statements, Foster began sending a series of text messages to the minor, accusing her of hacking his cell phone. The exchange reportedly became heated, after which Foster allegedly went upstairs, unplugged the internet, and entered the bedroom where the mother and children were located.
The victims told police that Foster then climbed on top of the minor in an attempt to take her phone. During the alleged struggle, Foster grabbed the minor’s arms and legs and struck her on the legs. The mother said she tried to pull Foster away by grabbing his shirt, which tore in the process.
Officers reported observing visible redness on the minor’s left arm and leg, which they noted was consistent with her account.
Foster has been charged with Child Endangerment – Bodily Injury, a Class D felony, and Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness, a serious misdemeanor.
He was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. His bond was set at $5,000, and a no-contact order has been requested in the case. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 17th in Jefferson County Magistrate Court.
