An Ottumwa man is accused of robbing a man at knifepoint while the victim was working in his apartment.
61-year-old Brien Mayer was charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony.
On October 29th at approximately 11:48 AM, court records say the male victim was treating Mayer’s apartment for pests at the Camelot Towers on Albia Road in Ottumwa. Mayer is accused of arming himself with a pair of knives and pressing the blades against the victim’s chest.
The victim attempted to leave the apartment but authorities say Mayer put his full weight against the door preventing the victim from opening it.
Court documents say Mayer demanded that the victim relinquish his necklace to Mayer or he would get stabbed.
Mayer was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. His bond has been set at $25,000.
Mayer has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
