A southeast Iowa woman was arrested after authorities say she was driving a stolen car.
Brandi Talbert of Douds, 23, was charged with second-degree theft (Class D felony), unlawful possession of prescription drug (serious misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor).
On October 7th, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office says Talbert was observed driving a car that was reported stolen. Court records say the vehicle’s owner confirmed that the car was still stolen.
After Talbert’s arrest, the vehicle was searched and officials allegedly found a small jewelry box that contained prescription pills but Talbert did not have a valid prescription. Additionally, there was a glass smoking pipe that was found in the car.
Talbert was transported to the Wapello County Jail and was later released after posting a $6,000 bond. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 27th.
