The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a violent incident at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont High School that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff Don Phillips tells Ottumwa Radio News that around 1:35 PM, a male student at the high school allegedly assaulted students, broke a classroom window, and discharged a fire extinguisher.
Phillips says multiple people went to a local hospital via private vehicle after inhaling the extinguishing agent. They were later treated and released, according to Phillips.
The offending student was released to the custody of his family. Phillips says he will most likely face criminal charges.
The incident remains under investigation. Ottumwa Radio News will provide updates if and when they become available.
