Iowa Trust and Savings Bank is proud to announce the graduation of Mike Armstrong, Vice President of Lending, from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC). This esteemed program is nationally recognized for its leadership development initiatives tailored for community bankers. Armstrong successfully completed a rigorous 25-month curriculum aimed at equipping emerging leaders to make bold, strategic decisions that enhance both their institutions and the communities they serve.
Armstrong was among 175 graduates honored during a ceremony held on July 24 at the University of Colorado Boulder campus. The Annual School Session, which occurs each July, immerses students in three years of intensive classroom learning, complemented by six real-world intersession projects. Each student’s final project addresses a strategic opportunity or challenges specific to their organization, thereby delivering immediate value to their communities.
GSBC’s contemporary curriculum is designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s community banks and is delivered by distinguished industry faculty. The coursework encompasses four core areas: Financial Management & Strategy, Innovation & Engagement, Leadership & Culture, and Lending. The program culminates in a practical bank management simulation, wherein students navigate a virtual institution through fluctuating market conditions and competitive challenges.
