An Ottumwa man was arrested after police say he was involved in an altercation with two minors late Thursday night.
45-year-old Patrick Weaver was charged with child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and child endangerment – bodily injury, a Class D felony.
According to court records, shortly before midnight on July 17th, Weaver admitted to getting in to a physical dispute with a minor on the 300 block of West Fifth Street. A witness told authorities that Weaver approached the minor, shoved him, and began punching him in the face and body.
Officials say a second minor attempted to break up the fight but was punched in the head by Weaver causing his ear to split.
Weaver was taken into custody and transported to the Wapello County Jail. His bond has been set at $5,000.
Weaver has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 28th. He’s been ordered not to have any contact with the two minors.
