The Keokuk County Dolly Parton Imagination Library has received $1,580 in donations from a July 5th Ecumenical Church Service offering organized by the Sigourney Ministerial Alliance, according to a social media post from Iowa State University Extension Keokuk County.

The Imagination Library was selected as the recipient organization for the offering, and the funds will go toward continuing to put books into the hands of children across Keokuk County and encouraging a love of reading from an early age.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library has been available in Keokuk County since May 2022, providing free books sent directly to enrolled children’s mailing addresses. Since launching nationally in 1995, the program has become the preeminent early childhood book-gifting program in the world, gifting well over 172 million free books across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland. The program mails more than 1.8 million age-appropriate books each month to enrolled children from birth to age five, with research suggesting positive increases in key early childhood literacy metrics.

Families with children ages 0 through 5 in Keokuk County can sign up at go.iastate.edu/SLBCQV or at imaginationlibrary.com/usa/affiliate/IAKEOKUK. More information about the program is also available at imaginationlibrary.com.
