A suspect is jailed after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of patients and staff from a Des Moines-area medical clinic on Thursday.

Clive police were called to MercyOne Family Medicine after a caller referenced a bomb in the building.

Officers and a K-9 unit did a thorough sweep and no explosive devices were found.

Detectives were able to trace the phone used to a house in West Des Moines, where they arrested 59-year-old Kevin Sanders on a harassment charge.

In a news release, police say Sanders admitted to officers he’d made the comment and hung up because he was frustrated over the length of time he’d been waiting on hold.
