Cardboard Boat Regatta Brings Big Crowds and Big Splashes to Robbins Lake

Robbins Lake was the place to be Saturday morning as the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta made its return—and it didn’t disappoint. This year’s races had a fresh twist with a timed “out and back” format, where two boats competed head-to-head, paddling to a buoy and back as fast as they could.

Each boat was built entirely from cardboard and carried teams of two to eight people. Creativity was on full display, with everything from pirate ships to dragons floating—sometimes barely—across the water.

Hundreds of people lined the lake to cheer on their favorite boats, laugh at a few wipeouts, and enjoy a fun, family-friendly event that’s quickly becoming a summer favorite.
