On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 9:14 p.m., deputies responded to 18664 490th Street in Mystic for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, they found 75-year-old Stanley Brown unresponsive in the yard. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation by the Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, 62-year-old Dana Haub of rural Moulton was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder. He was taken into custody without incident and remains in jail pending a court appearance.
