An Iowa mother received an unforgettable surprise during her college graduation ceremony on May 3 at Purdue Global in West Lafayette. Sebrina Hill of Oskaloosa was about to receive her Associate of Science in Nursing when her son, U.S. Army Specialist Blane Yuhas, made an unexpected appearance after serving overseas.
Hill had a row of family and friends cheering her on, but her son’s absence weighed heavily—until he walked into the ceremony just in time for her moment on stage. The emotional reunion, captured on video by the Purdue Global graduation team, quickly went viral on social media.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Hill works as a paramedic and reserve firefighter in Oskaloosa. Her graduation marked the culmination of a challenging and inspiring journey supported by her three children, with this surprise visit turning an already proud day into an unforgettable one.
